Hangzhou & Yiwu, Zhejiang
I’ve lived in China for over six years. I speak Mandarin, negotiate with suppliers in their own language, and visit factories myself.
Over the years, I’ve bought for Nigerian businesses of all sizes. Sometimes it’s just a few cartons to test a product. Other times, it’s the machinery, spare parts and production supplies needed to set up an entire factory.
I’ve also seen people lose millions of naira here.
I’ve seen people buy from traders who weren’t actually the factory. I’ve seen deposits sent to the wrong account. I’ve seen goods arrive looking nothing like the sample, with nobody in China to hold accountable.
I’ve made mistakes too. Those mistakes taught me what to look for, where things usually go wrong, and when it’s better to walk away.
That experience is what you’re paying for.
When you work with YoumanChina, you have someone on the ground in China who speaks the language, understands how things work here, and knows what’s at stake.

Still not sure about something?
YoumanChina is a procurement company based in Hangzhou and Yiwu, China. We are a small team of buyers who live in China, speak Mandarin, and buy from Chinese factories every week on behalf of African businesses. You will deal with the same people from your first message to your delivery.
Yes. Customers visit us in Hangzhou or Yiwu, and we walk the markets and factories together. If you cannot travel, we go for you and send photos and video from the factory floor.
Referrals. One importer tells another. That is why we would rather tell you a product is a bad idea than sell you a bad order.
Air is roughly 7–14 days door to door. Sea is roughly 75–100 days. Air suits small, light or urgent goods. Sea suits bulky or heavy goods, and costs far less per unit. Most first orders go by air so you can test the market, then repeat orders go by sea.
1688 is the domestic Chinese market. Prices are for Chinese buyers, in RMB, with no export service, no English, and no international payment. Alibaba is the export-facing site, and many sellers there are trading companies who buy from 1688 and add their margin. We buy on 1688 at local prices and handle the export part ourselves.
Yes. Factories set their own minimums, not us, and a trial order before a bigger one is normal — most of our regular customers started with one. Tell us what you have in mind and we will tell you honestly whether it is worth doing.
Nigeria Customs keeps an import prohibition list, and it changes. Common problems are certain used goods, some pharmaceuticals, and products that need NAFDAC or SON approval before they land. Ask us before you order. It is cheaper than a seizure.
You pay us in naira. We settle the factory in RMB from China and send you the payment proof. You never need a domiciliary account, and you never wire money to a stranger.
Chinese New Year, usually late January or February, stops production for two to four weeks, and the weeks before it are chaotic. There is also a national holiday in the first week of October. Plan orders around these or you will wait.
You can, and some people do it well. The risk is that you cannot see the factory, you negotiate in a second language, and you only discover a quality problem after the goods reach Nigeria. We are in China. We can stand in the building, check the goods, and argue in Mandarin on your behalf.
You approve the quotation before anything is paid. We verify the supplier is a registered company before we send money. You get proof of every payment we make on your behalf. And we inspect the goods before they leave China, while the supplier still has something to lose.
Tell us immediately with photos. Because we inspect before shipping, this is rare. When it happens we take it up with the factory in China, where we have leverage, and we will tell you plainly what we can recover and what we cannot.
Yes, and it is a large part of what we do. You do not need to know any procurement terms. Describe the product in plain English and we will explain each step before it happens.
Most of it is on this page. Verifying a supplier is ₦4,500 and finding suppliers is ₦19,500; the import guide is ₦4,900 to pre-order before it launches, ₦8,900 after, and the guides on this site are free. Buying, paying and shipping are a service fee on top of the goods, quoted before anything moves. Managed sourcing for a business is priced on your products and volume. You will always see the figure before you pay.
